GreenLeaf, a pioneer in sustainable home goods, faced a critical inflection point. Their existing e-commerce platform, built on legacy infrastructure, struggled to keep pace with growing customer expectations. Desktop traffic was stagnant, and mobile conversion rates had dropped to a concerning 1.2%βhalf the industry average.
More than just a technical debt issue, GreenLeaf's digital presence failed to communicate their core brand values. The user journey was fragmented, the visual identity felt dated, and their sustainability storytelling lacked emotional resonance. They needed a complete digital transformation that could honor their heritage while appealing to a new generation of eco-conscious consumers.
Our Approach
We began with a comprehensive discovery phase, conducting user interviews, competitive analysis, and data audits to understand where friction points existed in the customer journey. Our research revealed three critical insights: customers wanted transparent supply chain information, they valued community-driven content, and they expected a seamless checkout experience.
Strategy & Architecture
We restructured GreenLeaf's information architecture around product journeys rather than categories. This meant organizing content by use-case (e.g., "Zero-Waste Kitchen") which aligned better with how users actually search and shop.
Design System Development
We created a flexible, sustainable design system built on natural color palettes, organic shapes, and accessible typography. The design language emphasized transparency and warmth, using subtle animations to guide users without overwhelming them.
Technical Implementation
We built the platform using Next.js for blazing-fast page loads, Sanity CMS for flexible content management, and integrated their existing ERP system. Performance was prioritized from day one, achieving a 98 Lighthouse score across all devices.
Content & Launch
We produced original photography and storytelling content that highlighted GreenLeaf's artisans and sustainable practices. The launch was phased, beginning with a soft release to loyal customers before opening to the broader market.
