The WorldWideWeb project
The WorldWideWeb (W3) is a Wide Area Hypermedia Information Retrieval Initiative. It is a collaboration of researchers and engineers trying to find solutions to the problems of distributed hypermedia. It aims to meet the challenge of managing complex information at both the microscopic and macroscopic level.
Introduction
The project has been started at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, to facilitate the exchange of information amongst the large numbers of scientists and engineers working on high energy physics experiments and instrumentation. The project aims to provide a simple, flexible, fast, reliable, and portable way of accessing and sharing information on a global scale.
