📦 Welcome to the 1990 Web Archive

The 1990 Web Archive is dedicated to preserving the early history of the internet. From the first static HTML pages to the rise of GeoCities, Angelfire, and early commercial sites, we capture, catalog, and restore the digital heritage of the World Wide Web's formative years.

Our crawlers have recovered over 42,000 unique domains from 1990-1999. Every page is stored in its original format, complete with inline frames, table layouts, MIDI backgrounds, and animated GIFs.

🛠️ How It Works

  1. We crawl deprecated URLs and offline servers using historical DNS logs.
  2. Raw HTML, images, and scripts are stored in WARC format.
  3. Our emulation engine renders pages exactly as they appeared in Netscape, IE3, and early Mozilla.
  4. Researchers and historians can access the archive for free.
