- Neutral Framing: Headlines, ledes, and summaries must avoid loaded language, emotional phrasing, or implicit bias.
- Conflict Awareness: Editors and contributors must disclose potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from topics where impartiality may be compromised.
Sourcing & Attribution
Every claim, especially those involving controversy, interpretation, or human behavior, must be backed by reliable, verifiable sources. We prioritize:
- Peer-reviewed academic journals
- Established news organizations with editorial standards
- Official government or institutional publications
- First-hand accounts (clearly labeled and contextualized)
Unverified claims, anonymous sources, and self-published material are either excluded or clearly marked as unconfirmed.
Handling Disputes
When contributors disagree on tone, framing, or content balance, we follow a structured resolution process:
- Discussion: Initial dialogue on the article’s talk page to identify diverging perspectives.
- Mediation: Independent senior editors review the dispute, referencing this policy and established scholarly consensus.
- Consensus Building: Revisions must reflect the broadest credible consensus, not majority rule.
AI & Human Review
Our AI systems assist in detecting potential bias, flagging unbalanced phrasing, and suggesting neutral alternatives. However, AI is a tool—not a decision-maker. Every flagged article undergoes human review by subject-matter experts before publication or update.
Transparency: AI-generated or AI-assisted sections are clearly labeled. Readers can always view the revision history and source citations for any claim.
