Refund & Warranty Policy

At Automotive DIY, we stand behind the quality of our tools, diagnostic equipment, educational content, and rental services. This policy outlines your rights, our commitments, and the procedures for returns, refunds, and warranty claims.
1. Refund Policy
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Refund eligibility depends on the product category:
1.1 Physical Products (Tools, Scanners, Kits)
- Timeframe: 30 calendar days from the date of delivery.
- Condition: Items must be unused, unaltered, and in original packaging with all accessories/manuals included.
- Restocking Fee: None for unused items. A 15% restocking fee applies to opened packages that are otherwise in new condition.
- Shipping Costs: Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the item is defective or damaged upon arrival.
1.2 Digital Products (Courses, E-Guides, Video Library)
- Timeframe: 14 calendar days from purchase.
- Usage Limit: Refunds are granted only if you have viewed/downloaded less than 20% of the content.
- Non-Refundable: Instantly downloadable checklists, printable torque charts, and promotional bundles marked "Final Sale".
1.3 Tool Rentals
Rental transactions are non-refundable once the rental period begins. If you no longer need the tool, you may swap it for another item of equal or greater value within the same rental window, subject to availability.
1.4 Return Process
- Contact our support team at returns@automotivediy.com with your order number and reason for return.
- Receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and shipping label (if applicable).
- Pack the item securely and ship it to our fulfillment center.
- Once received and inspected, refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–7 business days.
2. Warranty Policy
All Automotive DIY hardware products are backed by manufacturer warranties. We extend additional coverage for registered customers.

2.1 What's Covered
- Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship
- Electronics failure under normal operating conditions
- Calibration drift in diagnostic equipment (first 90 days)
2.2 Warranty Claims Process
- Submit a warranty claim via our Support Portal with proof of purchase and photos/videos of the defect.
- Our technical team will review and respond within 48 business hours.
- If approved, we will ship a replacement, arrange repair, or issue a prorated refund based on product depreciation.
- Defective items may need to be returned at our expense depending on the claim outcome.
3. Legal & Compliance
- Governing Law: This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA.
- Dispute Resolution: Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Oakland County, MI, unless otherwise required by law.
- Policy Updates: We may update this policy periodically. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
- Consumer Rights: This policy does not limit your statutory consumer rights, which may vary by jurisdiction.
