Our Commitment to Ethical Practice
At SereneMind, ethical integrity is the foundation of everything we do. We recognize the profound responsibility that comes with providing mental health and mindfulness services. Every interaction, data point, and clinical decision is guided by a commitment to patient dignity, safety, and autonomy.
This document outlines the ethical standards, regulatory compliance measures, and accountability frameworks that govern our platform, our clinical team, and our organizational practices. We maintain transparency with our users, partners, and regulators to ensure the highest standards of care.

This Ethics & Compliance policy was last reviewed and updated on January 15, 2025. We conduct annual reviews and immediate updates as regulations evolve.
Core Ethical Principles
Our operations and clinical services are guided by five foundational principles:
- Patient Autonomy: We respect individual choice and informed consent. Users maintain full control over their data, treatment preferences, and participation in any program.
- Non-Maleficence & Beneficence: We prioritize "do no harm" while actively promoting mental well-being through evidence-based interventions and safe clinical environments.
- Justice & Equity: We are committed to accessible, culturally responsive care. We actively work to eliminate barriers and biases in mental health access and treatment.
- Integrity & Transparency: We operate with honesty, disclose limitations of digital therapy, and maintain clear boundaries between clinical care and commercial interests.
- Accountability: We take full responsibility for our services, maintain rigorous oversight, and provide clear channels for feedback and grievance resolution.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance
SereneMind operates in full compliance with applicable local, national, and international regulations governing mental health care, telehealth, and digital platforms. Our compliance framework includes:
Telehealth & Licensing
- All clinical services are delivered in accordance with state/provincial telehealth regulations.
- Therapists are licensed and in good standing in the jurisdictions where they provide care.
- Cross-border care is only provided where legally permitted and clinically appropriate.
Healthcare Regulations
- USA: HIPAA & HITECH compliance for all protected health information (PHI).
- EU/UK: GDPR and UK GDPR compliance for data protection and digital health services.
- Canada: PIPEDA and provincial health information privacy laws.
- International: Alignment with WHO guidelines on digital mental health and telepsychiatry.
We conduct quarterly compliance audits, maintain detailed regulatory registers, and assign a dedicated Chief Compliance Officer to oversee adherence.
Data Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is sacred. We treat mental health data with the highest level of security and ethical stewardship.
- End-to-End Encryption: All therapy sessions, messages, and clinical notes are encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 standards.
- Minimal Data Collection: We collect only what is clinically necessary. Non-essential data is anonymized or aggregated for platform improvement.
- User Control: You may view, export, or request deletion of your data at any time via your account settings or by contacting our privacy team.
- No Third-Party Selling: We never sell, rent, or share your personal or clinical data with advertisers, brokers, or unaffiliated third parties.
- Secure Infrastructure: Our platform is hosted on HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure with regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, restrict, or delete your data. You may also withdraw consent at any time without impacting your right to emergency care.
Clinical & Therapist Standards
Quality care requires rigorous professional standards. All SereneMind practitioners adhere to the following:
- Licensing & Credentials: All therapists, psychologists, and counselors hold active, verifiable licenses in their practice jurisdiction.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Clinical interventions are grounded in peer-reviewed research, including CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness-based therapies, and trauma-informed care.
- Continuing Education: Clinicians complete minimum 20 hours of approved CE annually, with mandatory training in digital ethics, crisis intervention, and cultural competence.
- Supervision & Review: All clinicians participate in regular case supervision and quality reviews to ensure ethical boundaries and clinical excellence.
- Scope of Practice: We clearly define digital therapy limitations. Crisis situations are redirected to appropriate emergency services or local hotlines.
Reporting, Whistleblower Protection & Accountability
Transparency and accountability are essential to maintaining trust. We provide multiple channels for reporting concerns and guarantee protection against retaliation.
