Accessibility Policy
Last Updated: November 15, 2025Our Commitment
Aevum News is dedicated to providing an inclusive, accessible digital experience for all readers, regardless of ability or assistive technology use. We believe that news and information should be equally accessible to everyone, and we continuously work to remove barriers across our website, mobile applications, and digital publications.
This policy outlines our standards, accommodations, known limitations, and how you can contact us to report accessibility concerns or request accommodations.
Standards & Compliance
Our digital platforms are designed and maintained in alignment with recognized accessibility standards:
- WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA: We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness.
- Section 508 & ADA Compliance: Our content and interfaces are structured to comply with U.S. federal accessibility requirements and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- EN 301 549: We adhere to European accessibility standards for ICT products and services.
- ARIA Best Practices: Proper semantic markup, live regions, and descriptive labeling are implemented to support screen readers and assistive technologies.
Features & Accommodations
We have integrated multiple accessibility features to ensure a seamless experience for all users:
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are fully operable via keyboard without requiring a mouse.
- Screen Reader Optimization: Proper heading hierarchy, ARIA landmarks, alt text for meaningful images, and descriptive link text.
- Color Contrast & Visibility: Text and interface elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. Decorative colors are never used as the sole means of conveying information.
- Captions & Transcripts: All video content includes closed captions and downloadable transcripts. Audio content provides full text transcripts.
- Resizable Text: Content remains readable and functional when browser text is scaled up to 200%.
- Focus Indicators: Clear, high-contrast focus outlines are maintained for all interactive elements.
- Reduced Motion: Animations respect system-level `prefers-reduced-motion` settings.
Known Limitations & Ongoing Improvements
While we strive for full accessibility, some legacy content or third-party integrations may not yet meet all standards. We are actively working on:
- Refactoring older articles published before 2020 for semantic structure and media accessibility
- Enhancing PDF document compatibility and tag structure
- Expanding multi-language support with proper RTL and locale-specific navigation
- Improving third-party ad and analytics widget accessibility
We conduct regular accessibility audits using automated testing tools and manual testing with assistive technologies, including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and keyboard-only navigation.
