Overage & Burst Policies
This document outlines Aevum Zenth Conglomerate's standardized framework for resource allocation, burst capacity, and overage pricing across all enterprise infrastructure divisions. Policies apply to Zenth Cloud, GridOps, DataMesh, and cross-divisional service tiers.
1. Overview
Aevum Zenth's infrastructure network operates on predictive scaling architecture. All provisioned resources include a guaranteed baseline allocation. To accommodate legitimate demand fluctuations without service degradation, controlled burst capacity is permitted within defined windows. Sustained usage beyond burst limits triggers overage protocols and standardized rate adjustments.
This framework ensures network stability, prevents resource monopolization, and maintains equitable access across all 400+ subsidiaries while supporting legitimate operational scaling events.
2. Core Definitions
3. Threshold Framework
Burst multipliers and overage rates are determined by contracted service tier. All measurements are evaluated on a rolling 24-hour window unless otherwise specified.
| Service Tier | Baseline | Burst Multiplier | Max Burst Duration | Overage Rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1.0x | 1.5x | 4 hrs / 24h | +25% base rate |
| Pro | 1.0x | 2.2x | 8 hrs / 24h | +15% base rate |
| Enterprise | 1.0x | 3.0x | 12 hrs / 24h | +8% base rate |
| Custom | Variable | Per Agreement | Unlimited* | Negotiated |
Burst allowance regenerates at 10% per hour after usage drops below 110% of baseline. Complete reset occurs after 4 continuous hours under baseline threshold.
4. Billing Mechanics
4.1 Calculation Methodology
Overage is calculated using weighted average consumption over the billing cycle. Short-duration spikes that fall within burst allowances incur zero additional charges. Once burst capacity is exhausted, overage accrues at the tier-specific differential rate.
4.2 Invoicing & Proration
- Overage charges are prorated to the nearest minute and reflected on the subsequent cycle invoice
- Separate line items labeled
INFRA-BURST-OVRandINFRA-SUSTAINED-OVRensure transparent auditing - Enterprise clients with multi-divisional accounts may request consolidated overage reporting via the Zenth Finance Portal
Consistent overage exceeding 200% of baseline for >72 hours may trigger automated throttling or capacity reassignment to maintain network integrity. Prior 72-hour notice is provided unless security/availability thresholds are breached.
5. Monitoring & Alert Protocols
All infrastructure clients receive real-time telemetry via the Zenth Observability Dashboard. Automated alerts are dispatched based on consumption velocity and projected threshold breaches.
| Threshold | Alert Level | Notification Method | Action Triggered |
|---|---|---|---|
| โฅ 80% Burst | Advisory | Dashboard / Email | Usage forecast generation |
| โฅ 95% Burst | Warning | Dashboard / Email / SMS | Auto-scale recommendation |
| 100% Burst | Critical | All channels + Slack/Teams webhook | Overtage billing initiated |
| โฅ 120% Baseline | Enforcement | Direct line to Infra Ops | Capacity review ticket auto-opened |
6. Exceptions & Enterprise SLAs
Standard policies may be modified under the following conditions:
- Event-Based Burst Windows: Pre-approved temporary overrides for product launches, seasonal peaks, or disaster recovery drills. Requires 14-day lead time and security review.
- Legacy Migrations: 60-day grace period with waived overage fees for qualified infrastructure transitions to Zenth platforms.
- SLA Credits: Overage charges incurred directly from Aevum Zenth platform outages are fully credited per the Master Service Agreement.
Custom capacity agreements require executive sign-off from Zenth Infrastructure Architecture & Finance divisions. All exceptions are logged in the policy ledger and subject to quarterly compliance audits.
