User Accounts & Responsibilities

Last Updated: November 2024 | Effective Immediately

Welcome to Automotive DIY. This document outlines the terms, expectations, and safety standards governing user accounts on our platform. By creating or using an account, you agree to abide by these responsibilities to ensure a safe, secure, and productive community for all DIY enthusiasts.

1 Account Creation & Eligibility

Automotive DIY provides account registration to individuals aged 18 or older. Users must provide accurate, current, and complete registration information. Each person may maintain only one personal account.

  • Account creation requires a valid email address and password meeting our security standards.
  • Users under 18 may access educational content but require parental/guardian supervision for account creation and purchasing.
  • Business or trade accounts require additional verification and are subject to separate commercial terms.

2 Account Security & Credentials

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities occurring under your account.

  • Use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) where available.
  • Immediately notify us at support@automotivediy.com if you suspect unauthorized access, credential compromise, or suspicious account activity.
  • Automotive DIY is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account usage caused by user negligence.

3 User Responsibilities & Safety

Our platform provides educational resources, tools, and community support for automotive maintenance and modification. You acknowledge that working on vehicles involves inherent risks.

⚠️ Safety First: Always follow manufacturer service manuals, use proper safety equipment (gloves, eye protection, jack stands), and work in well-ventilated, secure environments. Automotive DIY does not assume liability for injuries or damages resulting from improper vehicle maintenance or tool usage.
  • Verify compatibility of tools, parts, and procedures with your specific vehicle make, model, and year.
  • Do not attempt repairs beyond your skill level without consulting a certified professional.
  • Follow local laws and regulations regarding vehicle modifications, emissions, and safety standards.

4 Content & Community Guidelines

Our forums, comments, project galleries, and live chat areas are designed to foster constructive, respectful, and technically accurate discussions.

  • Share verified information. Clearly mark experimental or untested modifications.
  • Respect other members. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or personal attacks will result in immediate action.
  • Cite sources when sharing technical data, torque specifications, or wiring diagrams.
  • Do not post spam, unsolicited commercial promotions, or affiliate links without prior approval.

5 Prohibited Activities

The following actions violate our account terms and may result in suspension or termination:

  • Creating fake, impersonating, or bot-driven accounts.
  • Selling or distributing modified, bypassed, or illegal vehicle components that violate emissions or safety laws.
  • Sharing cracked software, unauthorized diagnostic tools, or pirated service manuals.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit platform APIs or user data.
  • Posting content that promotes reckless driving, illegal street racing, or unsafe vehicle modifications.

6 Account Modification, Suspension & Termination

Automotive DIY reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these responsibilities, engage in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to community safety.

  • Warning: First-time minor violations may result in a formal warning and required re-reading of guidelines.
  • Suspension: Repeated or moderate violations result in temporary account suspension (7–30 days).
  • Termination: Severe, intentional, or repeated policy breaches result in permanent account deletion. Purchased digital content may be refunded at our discretion.
  • Users may voluntarily deactivate their account via Settings β†’ Account Management. Data retention follows our Privacy Policy.

7 Limitation of Liability & Disclaimer

Automotive DIY provides educational content and tools "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we strive for accuracy, technical data, torque specs, and procedural guides may vary by vehicle production year, region, or aftermarket modifications.

Disclaimer: You assume full responsibility for all repairs, modifications, and decisions made based on information obtained through this platform. Always consult factory service documentation and licensed professionals when uncertain.
