Our Commitment to the Planet

Sustainability isn't a buzzword for us โ€” it's embedded in every material choice, manufacturing process, and partnership we make.

๐ŸŒ Responsible Forestry

All paper-based materials in our product lines come from FSC-certified or PEFC-certified forests. This means every tree harvested is tracked, replaced, and managed to protect biodiversity and forest health.

We are committed to increasing our use of recycled content by 40% across all paper products by 2026, reducing our reliance on virgin pulp.

๐Ÿ”„ Circular Economy

We design with end-of-life in mind. Our compostable products break down in 90 days in industrial facilities. Our reusable lines are built for 500+ uses with minimal degradation. And our packaging for shipped goods is 100% recyclable cardboard with water-based inks.

๐Ÿญ Cleaner Manufacturing

Our partner factories use solar power, closed-loop water systems, and zero-waste-to-landfill processes. We require all Tier-1 suppliers to publish annual ESG reports.

๐Ÿš› Lower Carbon Logistics

We optimize container load, use rail transport where possible, and offset remaining emissions through verified carbon credit programs. Our average product has a 22% lower carbon footprint than industry average.

๐ŸŽฏ 2030 Goal

By 2030, 100% of Cup Source products will be either reusable, recyclable, or industrially compostable โ€” with verified traceability from source to shelf.

Common Questions About Our Materials

Quick answers to the most frequently asked questions about our sourcing, materials, and sustainability practices.

Are your paper cups PFAS-free? +
Yes, absolutely. All Cup Source paper cups use water-based barrier coatings or food-grade PE liners โ€” never PFAS, PFCs, or any fluorinated compounds. We provide Certificates of Analysis (CoA) with every order to verify compliance. Many of our products also carry the "PFAS-Free" verification from independent third-party labs.
What does "compostable" actually mean for your products? +
Our compostable products are certified under EN 13432 and BPI standards, meaning they will fully biodegrade in an industrial composting facility within 90 days. They break down into water, COโ‚‚, and compost with no toxic residue. Note: most compostable products require industrial composting conditions (50โ€“60ยฐC, controlled moisture) and will not break down efficiently in a home compost bin. We clearly label which products are home-compostable vs. industrial-only.
Can I request test reports for a specific material? +
Of course. Every material we source comes with a full dossier including: FDA or EU compliance certificates, migration test reports (heavy metals, total migration), physical test results (burst strength, leak rate, heat resistance), and sustainability certifications (FSC, BPI, etc.). Contact your account manager or email quality@cupsource.com for any document.

Do you offer recycled-content options? +
Yes! We offer paperboard with up to 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content for dry goods packaging, and PET cups with up to 50% rPET. For food-contact hot cups, FDA regulations limit recycled content, but we offer 30โ€“40% PCR outer-wall options with virgin food-grade liners. We're continuously expanding our recycled-content portfolio as infrastructure improves.
How do you ensure your suppliers meet labor and ethical standards? +
All Cup Source suppliers must sign our Supplier Code of Conduct, which covers fair wages, safe working conditions, no child or forced labor, reasonable working hours, and environmental protection. We conduct on-site social compliance audits every 6 months using a standardized checklist aligned with SA8000 and BSCI standards. Non-compliant suppliers are given a 90-day corrective action plan or removed from our network. Full audit summaries are available upon request.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom materials? +
MOQs vary by product type and customization level. For standard products with your logo printed, MOQs start at 5,000 units. For fully custom materials (custom size, material blend, or liner type), MOQs typically start at 25,000 units. We also offer a "Startup Program" for smaller businesses with MOQs as low as 1,000 units on select products โ€” contact sales for details.
