Recipes are the heart of FlavorShare. We want to be completely transparent about how recipe content is handled, shared, and protected on our platform.

Content Ownership

When you share a recipe on FlavorShare:

  • You retain ownership of the original recipe content, photographs, and written descriptions you create and upload
  • You grant FlavorShare a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within our platform
  • Your recipe content is attributed to you with your name, profile link, and a timestamp visible to all viewers
  • You may remove your content at any time by deleting the recipe from your account

How Recipes Are Shared

Published recipes on FlavorShare are:

  • Publicly accessible — Anyone can view recipes published by community members
  • Searchable — Indexable by search engines and our internal search system
  • Shareable — Can be shared via social media, email, or direct links by any user
  • Taggable — Categorized with your chosen tags and cuisine classifications for discovery
  • Adaptable — Other users may save, remix, or create variations while properly attributing the original

While recipe ingredients and instructions themselves may not be copyrightable, your original photos, written descriptions, and creative presentation are protected. We enforce community guidelines against content theft and unauthorized reproduction.

Attribution Requirements

When users save, share, or adapt a recipe found on FlavorShare, we require:

  1. Clear attribution to the original recipe creator by name
  2. A link back to the original FlavorShare recipe page when shared online
  3. Disclosure that the recipe was adapted or inspired by the original when modifications are made

User Controls & Privacy Settings

We empower our community members with granular control over their information and how it is shared. Here's what you can control:

Profile Visibility

  • Public Profile — Your name, bio, location, and recipe collection are visible to all visitors
  • Friends-Only — Only users you follow or who follow you can see your profile details
  • Private — Your profile is only visible to you; recipes can still be shared publicly if desired

Recipe Sharing Settings

  • Publication Status — Choose between Draft (private), Pending Review, and Published (public)
  • Search Indexing — Opt in or out of having your recipes appear in public search results
  • Remixing — Allow or prevent other users from creating variations of your recipes
  • Download — Control whether others can download your recipe as a PDF

Data Export & Deletion

Under your control, you can:

  • Export All Data — Download a complete copy of your account data in JSON format
  • Export Recipes — Download all your recipes as a formatted PDF cookbook
  • Delete Individual Recipes — Remove any single recipe permanently
  • Request Account Deletion — Delete your entire account and all associated data
  • Manage Cookies — Control cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner
