1. Overview
FlavorShare is built on the belief that food and culinary knowledge should be shared, preserved, and celebrated. At the same time, we recognize that recipes, photography, writing, and digital content represent significant creative and intellectual effort. This policy establishes clear guidelines for ownership, usage, protection, and enforcement of intellectual property (IP) on our platform.
By creating an account, uploading content, or using FlavorShare services, you agree to abide by this policy alongside our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
2. User Content & Ownership
You retain full ownership of all recipes, photographs, videos, instructional text, and creative materials you upload to FlavorShare. We do not claim ownership over your original culinary creations.
To operate our service, we require certain rights to display, distribute, optimize, and promote your content. By uploading material, you grant FlavorShare a:
- Non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license
- Right to host, display, reproduce, modify (for format/accessibility), and distribute your content
- Right to use your content for platform improvement, analytics, and promotional purposes
You may withdraw or request removal of your content at any time through your account settings or by contacting support. Upon deletion, we will remove your content from public access within 30 days, subject to applicable data retention laws.
4. Licensing & Usage Rights
Recipes on FlavorShare are shared under a Community Usage Framework designed to encourage sharing while protecting creators:
- Personal Use: Free to save, print, and cook for personal or household purposes
- Sharing: Allowed to share links or non-commercial reposts with proper attribution
- Commercial Use: Requires explicit written permission from the original creator
- Attribution: Must credit the original author and include a link to the source recipe when possible
Creators may optionally apply open licenses (e.g., Creative Commons) to their recipes. These licenses are clearly marked and governed by their respective terms.
5. Third-Party Content
Some content on FlavorShare may reference or incorporate materials owned by third parties, including published cookbooks, food photography agencies, and media partners. We strive to properly license and attribute such content. If you believe your third-party rights have been infringed, please refer to Section 7.
FlavorShare does not guarantee that user-uploaded content is free from third-party IP claims. Users are solely responsible for ensuring they have the right to share any material they upload.
6. AI & Algorithmic Tools
FlavorShare utilizes AI-driven tools for content recommendations, image optimization, translation, and accessibility features. These tools do not:
- Claim ownership over user content
- Train proprietary models for external commercial sale
- Replace human creativity or alter the original intent of your recipe
AI-generated suggestions are clearly labeled and remain optional. You maintain full control over what is published to your public profile.
