6.1 Right to Access & Review
You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including information about how it is being processed. You can review much of this information directly through your Account Settings dashboard.
To request a comprehensive data export, navigate to Settings → Privacy → Download My Data, or submit a formal request using the contact information provided below.
6.2 Right to Rectification
If any of your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct it. This includes your profile details, contact information, dietary preferences, and notification settings.
- Profile & Account Data: Edit directly via your dashboard.
- Historical Data: Submit a correction request through our privacy portal.
6.3 Right to Deletion ("Right to be Forgotten")
You may request the deletion of your personal data and associated account at any time. Upon request, we will securely erase your profile, personal information, and uploaded content, subject to legal retention requirements.
Note: Certain data may be retained for legal, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution purposes even after deletion. Public-facing recipe content may remain in cached or archived form unless explicitly requested for removal.
6.4 Data Portability
Where technically feasible, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. You may also request that we transmit this data to another service provider, where possible.
6.5 Opt-Out of Marketing & Personalization
You control how we use your data for communications and personalization:
- Email & Push Notifications: Unsubscribe at any time via link in communications or Settings → Notifications.
- Personalized Recommendations: Disable algorithmic curation in Settings → Privacy → Personalization.
- Third-Party Advertising: Opt out of interest-based ads through your browser settings or by visiting Your Ad Choices.
6.6 Cookies & Tracking Technologies
FlavorShare uses essential cookies for functionality and optional cookies for analytics and personalization. You can manage your preferences via the Cookie Consent Banner upon first visit, or anytime through our Cookie Policy.
6.7 Recipe & Content Rights
While you retain ownership of the original recipes and content you create, sharing on FlavorShare grants us a limited license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the platform and our associated services. You may:
- Edit or update your published recipes at any time.
- Change visibility settings (Public, Private, or Unlisted).
- Delete recipes, which will remove them from public search and community feeds within 30 days.
6.8 How to Exercise Your Rights
To submit a request regarding your data, content, or account:
- Use our Self-Service Dashboard for common requests (access, update, opt-out).
- Submit a formal request via our Privacy Request Form.
- Email our Data Protection team directly (see below).
We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 7 days and respond within 30 days, or longer if your request is complex or numerous, as permitted by law.
