About This Collection
Before social media and centralized platforms, fan culture thrived on decentralized, self-published webpages. Enthusiasts built communities using Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod, and personal dial-up servers. These sites featured hand-coded HTML, guestbooks, webrings, MIDI background music, and animated GIFs.
Our 210K Fan Sites collection was recovered using targeted crawling of defunct free hosting providers, Wayback Machine seeds, and direct submissions from former webmasters. Each page is preserved with its original assets, metadata, and rendering context to ensure historical accuracy.
Researchers, historians, and developers can access this collection via our public API, bulk download endpoints, or the interactive viewer. All materials are provided for archival and educational purposes under fair use guidelines.
