11. Termination
This section outlines the rights and responsibilities of both Automotive DIY ("we," "our," or "us") and you ("the User") regarding the termination of your account and access to our services, including our e-commerce platform, DIY tutorial library, and community forums.
11.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your Automotive DIY account at any time. To do so, you must:
- Log in to your account settings and select "Delete Account," or
- Contact our support team at legal@automotivediy.com with the subject line "Account Termination Request" and verify your identity.
Upon confirmation, your account will be deactivated within 30 days. Please note that this action is irreversible, and any data associated with your account (including saved projects, forum posts, and purchase history) will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Data Retention Policy.
11.2 Termination by Automotive DIY
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to all or any part of our services at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that:
- You have breached any provision of these Terms of Service, particularly regarding safety guidelines in our community forums.
- Your actions threaten the safety, security, or intellectual property rights of Automotive DIY or its users.
- We are required to do so by law, regulation, or government authority.
- The services are no longer commercially viable or available.
For severe safety violations (e.g., posting instructions for illegal vehicle modifications or dangerous practices), we reserve the right to terminate accounts immediately without prior notice.
11.3 Effect of Termination
11.3.1 Access Cessation
Upon termination, your right to use the services will cease immediately. You must discontinue all use of the Automotive DIY platform and delete any local copies of our proprietary content.
11.3.2 Outstanding Obligations
Termination does not relieve you of any obligations accrued prior to the effective date of termination, including but not limited to unpaid balances for tool rentals, course subscriptions, or merchandise purchases.
11.3.3 Digital Content & Subscriptions
Access to paid digital content (e.g., Premium Video Academy, advanced diagnostic toolkits) will be revoked immediately. Refunds for unused subscription periods will be handled according to our Refund Policy. Purchased permanent digital guides will remain accessible for a limited period (60 days) to allow for downloading, after which access will be permanently removed.
11.4 Surviving Provisions
The following sections of the Terms of Service shall survive the termination of your account and continue to be binding:
- Intellectual Property Rights (Section 8)
- Disclaimer of Warranties (Section 12)
- Limitation of Liability (Section 13)
- Governing Law and Dispute Resolution (Section 15)
Nothing in this Termination section shall be construed to limit our rights or remedies under applicable law or any other agreement between you and Automotive DIY.
