At Automotive DIY, we want every mechanic to be completely satisfied with their purchase. If you're not happy with your tool kit, diagnostic equipment, or accessory, we've made returning and refunding straightforward. This policy outlines the terms under which we accept returns and process refunds.
Return Window
You have 30 calendar days from the date of delivery to initiate a return for most physical products. Returns requested after 30 days will not be accepted or refunded, unless covered under our limited warranty for manufacturing defects.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a full refund, your return must meet the following criteria:
- Item is in its original, unused, and unmodified condition
- Original packaging and all accessories/manuals are included
- Proof of purchase (order confirmation or receipt) is provided
- Return is initiated through our official portal or customer support
โ ๏ธ Items showing signs of use, missing components, or altered packaging may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 15% or may be denied.
Refund Process & Timeline
Once we receive and inspect your returned item:
- You'll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours
- Approved refunds are processed within 5โ7 business days
- Funds are returned to the original payment method
- Credit card processing times may add an additional 3โ5 business days depending on your bank
Return Shipping Costs
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item was defective, damaged in transit, or we shipped the incorrect product. We recommend using a trackable shipping service and insuring high-value items. We do not reimburse the original shipping fee for non-defective returns.
Non-Returnable Items
Due to hygiene, licensing, and inventory constraints, the following items cannot be returned or refunded:
- Digital purchases (video courses, PDF guides, software licenses)
- Opened OBD2 scanners with activated software/registrations
- Custom-engraved tools or personalized accessories
- Tool rental agreements (governed by separate rental terms)
- Gift cards once redeemed or partially used
Defective or Damaged Items
If your order arrives damaged or you receive a defective product, please report it within 48 hours of delivery. We will:
- Provide a prepaid return shipping label
- Issue a full refund or ship a replacement at no cost
- Waive all restocking fees
Please include clear photos of the damage/defect and your order number when contacting support.
Exchanges
We accept exchanges for items of equal or greater value. If the replacement costs more, you'll pay the difference. If it costs less, we'll refund the difference upon approval. Exchanges follow the same 30-day window and eligibility requirements as returns.
