1. Overview & Commitment

At Automotive DIY, we stand behind the quality and durability of every tool, kit, and diagnostic device we sell. Our warranty policy is designed to protect your investment and ensure you can tackle your automotive projects with confidence. If a product fails due to manufacturing defects, faulty materials, or poor workmanship, we will repair, replace, or refund it at no cost.

2. Warranty Coverage Periods

Warranty terms vary by product category. Unless otherwise stated on the product page, the following periods apply:

  • Hand Tools & Socket Sets: Lifetime Limited Warranty against breakage under normal use.
  • Power Tools & Torque Wrenches: 5-Year Limited Warranty.
  • OBD2 Scanners & Electronics: 2-Year Limited Warranty.
  • Maintenance Kits & Consumables: 90-Day Warranty against manufacturing defects. (Excludes normal wear/fluid degradation).
  • Vehicle Parts & Accessories: 1-Year Limited Warranty, unless specified by the OEM manufacturer.

  • Cracks, breaks, or structural failures in tool bodies or handles
  • Electrical or software malfunctions in diagnostic devices
  • Corrosion or finish defects not caused by misuse
  • Mechanical failures in power tools or precision instruments

3. What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover defects or damage resulting from the following:

  • Normal Wear & Tear: Gradual degradation from regular use, including worn drive sockets, faded grips, or battery capacity loss over time.
  • Misuse or Abuse: Dropping, striking, overheating, dropping, or using tools beyond their rated specifications.
  • Unauthorized Modifications: Opening sealed electronic devices, welding onto tool frames, or altering calibration settings.
  • Improper Storage: Damage from moisture, extreme temperatures, or corrosive environments.
  • Accidental Damage: Drops, impacts, or vehicle collisions that damage tools or accessories.
  • Lack of Maintenance: Failure to clean, lubricate, or calibrate tools as outlined in the user manual.

4. How to File a Warranty Claim

We strive to make the warranty process as straightforward as possible. Follow these steps to submit a claim:

  1. Contact Support: Email us at warranty@automotivediy.com or use our online claim form.
  2. Provide Details: Include your order number, product name/SKU, proof of purchase, and a brief description of the issue.
  3. Photos/Video (If Requested): Clear images or a short video showing the defect or malfunction.
  4. Receive RMA & Shipping Label: Our team will review your claim within 2–3 business days and issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) with a prepaid return label if approved.
  5. Resolution: Once received and inspected, we will ship your replacement or process your refund within 5–7 business days.
πŸ“¦ Shipping Note: Customers in the contiguous U.S. receive free return shipping for warranty claims. International returns require the customer to cover initial return postage, but we will refund it upon successful verification.

5. Limitations & Exclusions

Automotive DIY’s warranty is limited to the repair, replacement, or refund of the defective product. We are not liable for:

  • Incidental or consequential damages (e.g., missed work, vehicle damage, lost time)
  • Shipping costs for non-warranty returns or customer-requested exchanges
  • Products purchased from unauthorized third-party resellers
  • Serial numbers that have been altered, removed, or made illegible

Transferability: Most warranties are non-transferable and apply only to the original purchaser. Exceptions include lifetime tool warranties for branded hand tools, which may be transferred once with proof of original purchase.

Governing Law: This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any disputes shall be resolved in Wayne County courts.
